Hello everyone... I'm going to be starting a blog on my anuheajams.com site since there are a-lot-o cool things going on right now. This will be good for me to sit and reflect on, as my label is calling it, "The Ride"... cause we all know its not only about the destination, its the journey. So check back every couple days! I like to keep my myspace blog a bit more spread out, this one should be updated more regularly.
Last night I spent about 4 hours in my truck mooching wifi researching and writing out the mission statement for my non profit that we're starting called Anuhea Cares. (Kind of a play on the local term 'Ainokea' ... cause i DO kea! har har.. But I've decided that my primary initial passion will be to get musical instruments in Hawaii schools, initially ukuleles. Like almost every other kid who went to public elementary school here in Hawaii our first instrument was the Yooke... It definitely paved the way for my brain to accept music, and gave me a fun outlet for my creativity. With all that's changing in the economy and the public school system, my goal will be to ensure that children in Hawaii will continue to have the opportunity to play instruments, take music classes, and have music as a part of their complete education. We are hoping to get things rolling in the next few months, and Ko'olau Ukulele's (my sponsor) will be helping us as well. I'm wanting to do a big fundraiser event and a concert series every March, since March is Music in our Schools Month! (well, it is now!)
K I've only got 50 minutes of battery left, so I gotta run for now. But follow me on Twitter yeah? @anuheajams
